PARABLES FOR JUNIOR CHURCH

PARABLES was designed as a full puppet production.  However, the soundtrack can be used as the basis for Junior Church classes.

Explain to the class that a parable is a story- that is usually made up.  But the story is meant to teach us a lesson that is very true.  Can you find the lesson in this parable?

Basis of the story:  Winnie is a little girl in her bedroom trying to understand the Bible.  An angel, Caleb, appears to her and takes her in an exciting journey through Jesus’ parables.

SUGGESTED CLASS SCHEDULE:

  1. OPENING PRAYER
  2. DISCUSSION INTRODUCING THE PARABLE TOPIC
  3. SING THEME SONG: I’M ALL BLESSED UP!
  4. PLAY THE AUDIO CD LESSON FOR THE DAY
  5. TALK ABOUT WHAT WE HEARD (Characters, what they did wrong, what they did right; what the parable was trying to teach us.)

PARABLE THEME SONG: I’M ALL BLESSED UP!

This is the story behind the song.  There was a great pastor from Scotland who served in the Boston area not too many years ago.  And his wife was loved deeply by everyone in the church.  She was a grandmother to everyone!  Her name was Thea.  And when Thea was excited about something the Lord was doing, she would always say, “Oh, I’m all blessed up!”  So, Parables turned Thea’s words into a song.
